On Saturday, Zhovkva Castle hosted the first working meeting of alumni and University representatives devoted to establishing the Alumni Council of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
Vice-Rector Oleh Buhrii joined the discussion. He emphasised the importance of active engagement between alumni and their alma mater and supported the creation of a strong alumni network as an important direction for the University community’s development.
Participants discussed the challenges and prospects of the alumni community, its values, and its role in strengthening the University’s reputation, supporting students and faculty, and implementing strategic projects. Particular attention was paid to effective cooperation with business, professional networking, cultural diplomacy and traditions that connect generations of graduates.
Iryna Kiyanka, Head of the Center for Cooperation with Patrons and Alumni, said:
“We are not simply creating a new structure. We are building a community of people for whom the University remains an important part of their personal story and future. Alumni is about trust, shared values, mutual support and a willingness to put ambitious ideas into practice together.”
The meeting outlined the first areas of work for the future Alumni Council. Participants agreed to continue developing it together and involve an ever-wider circle of graduates.
More meetings, discussions and projects lie ahead. Most importantly, we are creating an open, modern and influential LNU alumni community that will become an important partner in the University’s development.
